Background:

Wu Fei appears to me to be the most mature of all the pilots. In some ways he has the mannerisms of a much older man, one who has been hardened by grief and war and has no patience for those who appear weak or incompetent. Throughout the first half of the series, we see Wu Fei by himself, traveling in his gundam to various battle sites. Wu Fei is also biased against women warriors.

Soldiering was not something Wu Fei had ever intended to pursue. Married at an early age to a strong wife who believed in fighting for the independence of L5 colony, Wu Fei himself was a quiet scholar, content to stay immersed in his books. The death of his wife, in battle, appears to have had a devastating effect on Wu Fei. Although they had not been close in life, after her death Wu Fei took up her cause, abandoning his books and becoming a soldier. His dead wife is also embodied in Wu Fei's gundam. He has named the mecha Nataku after a fierce Chinese warrior-goddess.

Wu Fei carries with him a great sense of honor and obligation and believes deeply that he is fighting, not just for the colonies, but for Justice itself.

Natsume's Comments:

Wu Fei is my 2nd favorite character in the series, along with Zechs. He really looks cute. And I like his chinese outfits (almost like Kurama's chinese outfits). What I don't like about him, is his love for justice. Can't he say anything else besides JUSTICE, JUSTICE, JUSTICE????? I admire his 'Kung Fu' and sword skills (although Treize did beat him on a duel once, but...who cares???). I like his ego because I can relate it to myself (~ehem!~).
